Boros Impact Tokens

When Modern Horizons came out [Bogardan Dragonheart] was a card that immediately took my eye and [Martyr’s Soul] wasn’t far behind that. So my thoughts were that maybe I could use tokens to maximise the potential of both cards. Initial builds of the deck were of a much more budget variety using cards mainly from 2019/2020.

The current deck list is

60 Total Cards

4 Wind-Scarred Crag

4 Boros garrison

7 Snow-Covered Plains

7 Snow-Covered Mountains

4 Thraben Inspector

4 Martyr’s Soul

4 Bogardan Dragonheart

4 Raise the Alarm

4 Dragon Fodder

4 Battle Screech

2 Rally the Peasants

2 Goblin War Party

4 Impact Tremors

4 Lightning Bolt

2 Raid Bombardment

Sideboard

3 Soul Warden

1 Journey to Nowhere

1 Ramosian Rally

2 Palace Sentinels

3 Pyroblast

2 Gorilla Shaman

3 Prismatic Strands

I feel this deck does suffer to the limited mass removal in the format e.g. ELectrickry and Shrivel after opponent’s sideboard but it is bonkers fun with [Goblin War Party] being an all star being able to pump your guys, make more guys or even both making it a very versatile threat. Mass removal is why we now have Ramosian Rally in the sideboard.

The turning point for this deck was when I playing MTG Arena against a [Cavalcade of Calamity] deck realising that would be so useful in the deck. I went old school at that point and recruited Impact Tremors from Dragons of Tarkir giving the deck greater reach and also added Raid Bombardment from Rise of the Eldrazi. These two cards have proven to be very useful in helping to get around local Tron and Mill decks that utilise many fog effects.

The deck is played regularly by my partner who finds the deck amazing fun and the matches are regularly on a knife edge creating great play experiences.

Whilst Boros Bully and Boros Monarch are both great decks, this a fun alternative.
